Handover of Mockups Created by Inmates of  Singaraja Correctional Facility and Bangli Narcotics Correctional Facility

On Monday, 28 October 2024, Mrs. Evy Amir Syamsudin, Founder of the Second Chance Foundation, handed over a mockup of the Istiqlal Mosque, handcrafted by inmates at the Singaraja Correctional Facility from recycled materials (rolled used newspapers), to the Istiqlal Grand Mosque in Jakarta. The mosque was represented by Mr. Ar. Her Pramtama (Vice Chief Division of Riayah).

This mockup of the Istiqlal Mosque was shown to Pope Francis during his Apostolic visit to Indonesia in September 2024. The inmates involved in creating this mockup come from different religious backgrounds. This diversity highlights that the mockup is a form of creativity and showcases the beauty of harmony between religions.

During the signing of the handover minutes, the mockup of the Istiqlal Mosque was placed in the Al-Malik Istiqlal VIP room, right under the Kiswah of the Ka'bah, which King Faisal gave to Indonesia in 1970.

This moment marks a new witness to Indonesia's harmony and diversity spirit. 🌏🤝
